Ken Sutherland’s “SWOOP!” a finalist for John Steinbeck Award

Provost: I’m thrilled to announce that Ken Sutherland's short story "SWOOP!" - one of 25 entries by Northern Nevada authors in The ACES Anthology - has been selected as one of three finalists for the prestigious John Steinbeck Award. As editor and publisher for this story (as well as Ken's debut novel, BALANCE: The 200-Year Journey of Andrew Crawford) under my Dragon Crown Books, Ltd. imprint, I couldn't be happier. "SWOOP!" is great story, deftly told, and I can attest that it's a well-deserved honor.

I want to congratulate Ken for an achievement made even more impressive by the fact that "SWOOP!" was his first published work. It highlights the capability of emerging writers such as Ken to produce work every bit as compelling and noteworthy as bestsellers.
